Happy Father’s Day!

To all the dads out there, enjoy this day!  You are amazing!  Being a parent is one of the hardest things, and you keep us afloat.   All of you are fantastic and should embrace this day.

When I was little, I made my dad a collage and the phrase “Fathers and daughters have a very special bond...ours is unbreakable.” I still feel this way today.

Dad- you have lifted me out of the dark times of my life and always been my rock. There truly is no bond like that of a father and daughter. You’ve been the shoulder I cry on through everything, you’ve been the person I laugh with for everything, you’ve dealt with my many attempts to make you as uncomfortable as possible, you’ve watched Elimidate and Sex and the City with me, you’ve read gossip magazines so you could keep up with things that interested me, and you’ve shaped me into the woman I am today. Most of all, you’ve taught me what unconditional love is. I love you! I hope you have an amazing fathers day.

Hubs- I always knew you would be a great dad watching you with ‘Lil Sis.  I see the strengths you will be teaching our kids and am so excited to watch them grow in your footsteps.  Bella has your goofy personality and Noah has your strong will.  Both are already such amazing little humans because they have been learning from you.

I have a small pink elephant stuffie that says “Daddy’s Girl” on it.  I keep it in the box of stuffies we use for the kids, but it always has a special memory for me.  In honor of Father’s Day, I found a poem that resonates with me as I always considered myself “Daddy’s Little Girl.”

Daddy's Little Girl

As I look back to see

I remember times spent on your knee

When it came to my biggest fears

you came along to wipe away my tears

You always seem to know when I need a smile

especially when you haven't seen one in a while

We seem to always be on the same page

even though there's a big difference in age

We know how to make each other laugh

and it makes time fly past

Daddy that's why I'm so thankful for you

I would never ask for anyone new

I love you so very much

because you help me with all my problems and such

I know you wish you could give me the world

but I'm proud enough with my title

"Daddy's Little Girl"

- Heather Leanne Fleming

Behind every great daughter is a truly amazing dad.  I may have outgrown your lap, but I will never outgrow your love.
